Robbe De Hert was an Antwerp director and writer. Although he studied to be an electrician, his passion for film was unquenchable. Every weekend he went to the theatre and even got a student job there. That’s where he learned all he knew bout filmmaking. In 1963 Robbe produced his first movie, “Two times two eyes”.A short movie about romance through the eyes, between two youngsters in front of the Central station of Antwerp. It was a hit. Maria Rosseels wrote a remarkable review saying “Robbe is one of those people who doesn’t only sees visually but also thinks visually.” This launches his career. In 1968 he plays a soldier in the movie “The Enemies” (De vijanden) directed by Hugo Claus. He learns that he is better behind a camera than in front of one. Some of Robbe's famous movies are “De white one from Sichem”( De witte van Sichem) in 1980 and “Heavy Boys” (Zware jongens) in 1984, with Gaston Berghmans as lead actor.
